Day 🎲

Today was a day I am pretty sure I will never forget. I woke up - so right there a good start. Packed, washed in the river ❄ it was fresh and then hit the road. I was more prepared today. I had... a jacket. Get to Op Die Berg. Yes you heard it right. Pop in to Spar (good for you) and got the food essentials and probably a few spoils too. I knew that I was not going to die of hunger for at least 24 hours. Yeah I eat a lot when I ride so what! I like food and food likes me. So happy days.
So off I go. Buzzing down the road and what is it there that I can see 👀👁 the bloody 🚔 po po again. They have the road blocked and checking everyone. Well I pulled a Greg and waved as I rode past. The usual one person telling me to stop but I just yelled "hello" and carried on.
So then what happens? Yes I know!! Snow. Snow over there, and over there and some up there. Actually quite a lot. Explains why it was like 0 degrees last night.
I put the pedal down and cruise right out of that freezing place. I am on a road I have ridden previously. Only once but I know it all too well. Up, down, around and more up. I cannot tell you how much I love this road and where it goes. It is like a cigarette after sex, a fine brandy after a steak, a beer after a hard days riding. You get my message.
Then comes the section I like to call " the best part and the worst nightmare you have ever had".
The hills are ever so slightly rolling with the most gorgeous hills on either side. No artist could ever do this magnificent scenery justice. It is poetic beyond real life. I know why I love this place and I know I would be happy if I died here. It is undeniably gods best work.
So this is the first part. Then you get to a beautiful place called Mount Cedar. It is fantastic. 5 stars all the way to the bank. And I tell you what not that pricey either. I chat with the receptionist and find their camping is full for the night. Not being bothered as this was not my destination for the evening.
On my departure from this exquisite venue is the hell. It are is a hill. Not Benny Hill because it is not funny. It is a major hill. I get going. Cycling to start then walking. Suddenly the 25kgs of food I bought earlier is nearly thrown off the side of the mountain. It takes me a good hour to get to the top. Mainly trying to push a trolley cart full of crap to the top. But once there I see my beloved sleeping place for tonight and possibly the next few days.
The descent is about as much fun as the climb. The rains have done quite a bit of damage to the road.
But here I sit. Happy. Very happy. Peaceful.
So I wish you all calmness and peace today and for the morrow. May you be happy and grateful for all we have and enjoy.
Love as always G.
