The plan was to get to Franschoek and bed down for the night. Well I surprised myself and was there at around 13.00. That's 1pm to us humans. It was an okayish ride there. Quite uneventful and boring. Sometimes boring can be okay because you are alive and telling the story. So we will stick with that for now.
On my entrance to Franschoek a familiar face in a vehicle caught my attention so I pulled over to make some small talk with this good human. It was my brother on the way back from the shops. Went to get some things to finish the thingymabob. We chatted briefly and then carried on with our days. There was a quick mention of where I am going and maybe a visit from him for a day or two 🤞
After Passing through Franschoek and Paarl I was pretty done. I thought I would be sleeping in the streets of Wellington.
I pushed through and am now half way up Bainskloof Pass. My first attempt to ride into the bush to find a spot was halted by a great big chain. Now I know you thinking just hop over it... check back a few pictures back. My bike is not exactly light. In fact I cannot pick the thing up over a fence.
So I carried on for about 30 minutes and now find myself a little further up. So all is good and in order. Washed in the stream. Ate. And now in bed. Bit knackered to say the least. That is the biggest days ride I have done in 3 years.
So sleep tight all. Be safe. Be strong and remember... don't pay your taxes. You are not getting anything in return.
Peace out 😎
