From where I stopped last night there wasn't much left of Bainskloof Pass so that was completed sharpish. Then the decent on the other side. Well it was cold. Fucking cold. I mean try staying in the freezer for an hour cold with only a pant a short and a tshirt on. Yes.. that cold.
Anyway the traffic was light so apart from shivering and unable to move because I had frozen solid it was very beautiful and pretty quick going. Then I think there was a road from the bottom to the start of Michele's Pass. A quick stop at the shop before the turnoff and I was on my way up. Not much really there either.
Boom on the way down and into Ceres. Near the entrance to town and there is a roadblock. What to do I think quick. So I waved as I road past and greeted the officers. Most of them returned the gesture with one of them telling me to stop. I ignored him and carried on.
Through Ceres and then Prince Alfred Hamlet. What a toilet that place. Filthy and kids playing in the mud. I was quite disheartened and felt much disappointment with this thieving government. They have really let the citizens of this country down.
Well the next challenge was Gydo Pass. It was sort of a blur. Go a bit. Stop a bit. Then go then stop then backwards then fall over. Bit of a mess really but it was eventually conquered.
At the top I met 3 bikers who had ridden up on a single track on the side of the mountain. We chatted and departed as friends for a short time. The alpha male of the group said I should try Kaleo camping farm as he thought it was open. Well guess what mate.. it wasn't. This was an hours detour out of my way. I brushed it off quickly and am now at my spot for the night. It is closer to where I want to be so I guess no complaints really.
I am tired after today and really hope the place I am aiming for tomorrow is open. So fingers crossed everyone.
I leave you there for now. I have eaten dinner and am lying down. The legs need a rest.
Be safe all.
G.
