Yesterday was such a cool day. I just rode around the AB site. Took in all the sights. Not quite the same as party time but I was where I needed to be. The place is amazing. Even if you never go to the party, I recommend you go to the old site and just look around and be present. It has a great energy and even better views. I do love it there.
Today was a big day. Supposed to hit Sutherland. Well I nearly made it π
. I am about 20kms shy. The wind made its presence and so did the rain. 2 of my most all time favorites π€π€₯. Yes ππ©. Riding into the wind is like putting your hand into a meat grinder. No fun at all. π₯Ίπ. It takes away huge amounts of energy and swiftly destroys your soul. Oh yes just to throw in some good fortune the road is so badly corrugated I think 2 fillings fell out and my boobs now hang 10cms closer to my π₯π₯, yes my balls.
The views and scenery while doing this... absolutely worth it. Stunning. I love this part of the world. (I think I said that Greg) π₯±. A decent days climbing and ride that I won't forget. My ass is getting sore though. I mean I have excellent cycling pants but my sit bones are a bit numb right now. I think tomorrow night will be in Sutherland so hopefully a short day.
I do enjoy the riding, however being alone all day long is tough. Lots of thoughts. Lots of ideas. Lots of questions... too many questions! My mind sometimes goes beyond where I want it to. Learning to understand it all is hopefully part of this journey. For the first time the other day someone said to me "enjoy your journey". That is what this is. It is not a ride or exploration. Not even a cycle trip. It's also not about the bike. It is a journey. I am still a firm believer that ever human should have at least one journey. Any time they desire. Any place they desire. But I believe we should all do it.
So todays ride brings me here. Tjol se Gat. 20kms before Sutherland. What a place. On the mountain side. An elderly man and his wife own this spot. It is "where I needed to be today". I am camping on the other side of the road. There is a little bar on the other side where the couple live. It is old school. An old man's pub. He sells booze obviously. It is very cool. A couple of construction guys building the wind turbines down the road stopped in for a few beers and I went over and joined them. It was good. Old school banter. Just lekka people getting on with their lives. Pretty much how life should be.
Anyway I will bore you no longer. Take care friends. Be safe. Enjoy YOUR journey. Take time to be present. Be happy. And most of all be warm. It's fucking freezing here. -2 I think tonight π₯Άπ₯Ά
Peace out G.
